I am a social and medical anthropologist with interests ranging from food, risk, emotion, health, illness, well-being, gender, employment, family, and intimacy. My current research cross-culturally explores social experiences of food allergies in Japan and the UK and is detailed in the ‘Research Projects’ section of this website. I work at Hokkaido University as a Professor on the Modern Japanese Studies bachelors degree. This website provides information on my research projects, publications and teaching.
